Unemployment insurance is a state program. It's not clear how DOGE would know about federal workers collecting it. Perhaps the state has to report or confirm with the employer (Uncle Sam)—and they keep a centralized database?
That's a good point. I don't know the answer but guess that even state unemployment offices have to check with "former employers" (in this case the federal government) and the IRS has a database of who's employed and who's receiving unemployment.
