Read the story about the flags raised on Iwo Jima and there was more than one. Don't think the famous one in the picture was even the first one. Like how the flag from the Star Spangled Banner didn't actually make it through the night but was taken down when Francis Scott Key went to bed and was raised before he got back in deck.
