Went to the Pats / Dolphins game down in Miami and a random observation - Tom Brady jerseys still outnumber Mac Jones jerseys by at least a 5-1 ratio. This won't truly be Mac Jones' team until that ratio flips... Remember a couple years ago when Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz ran for President as an Independent? I wonder who will be the big company CEO who might run as a Centrist Independent in 2024. Pretty sure one will and think the time may actually be more ripe for a third party choice this time around... Re-reading Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man and it jumped out at me how negatively newspaper reporting is portrayed. Always wrong and always exaggerated. Nick Charles gets grazed by a bullet and it's reported that he was shot four times and is close to death. The book was published in 1934 so I guess "journalism" has always been like that... Really don't get the Dolphins firing coach Brian Flores. Seems like the owner decided to side with the GM who thought Adam Gase was a good hire. Good luck with that. Brian Flores won't be unemployed for long. This has Cleveland firing Bill Belichick vibes all over it... In the Northeast you may hear a public service announcement that says, "Friends don't let friends drive drunk." In Florida that public service announcement may go something like, "Friends don't let friends get white girl drunk"... Maybe something only die-hard Pats fans will understand but you are much more likely to see someone wearing an Aaron Hernandez jersey than a Tony Eason jersey... Used Sushi would be a good name for a band... Not sure who needs to hear this but Eggs Benedict is NEVER supposed to have lettuce and tomato. NEVER... To be fair - I would like to "date" AOC. If we were playing F, Marry, Kill - the "Marry" part would not be an option... It' been 15-years since Apple first came out with the iPhone. Back then the company's market cap was about $175 billion and now it's about $3 trillion and the iPhone is largely responsible for that growth. Has another product ever been that impactful?... Chris Cornell's You Know My Name Bond theme song to Casino Royale is very underrated among Bond songs... If they ever did a re-make of The Thin Man movie my guess is they'd replace Nick Charles constant drinking with smoking pot. If you haven’t seen the original movie with William Powell and Myrna Loy you should do yourself a favor and give it a watch.. Re. The Thin Man. When they perfect time travel I'm going back and have a torrid affair with Myrna Loy.
A few points:
1. The jersey ratio won't begin to flip until Jones wins a championship.
2. A third party candidacy won't gain serious traction until it is based on something more than "I don't like the Rs or Ds." There needs to be a major issue the new party can claim to address that the existing parties are ignoring.
3. Cleveland did NOT fire Belichick. The scumbag owner of the Ratbirds fired him after the move to Baltimore.
4. Funny you should mention a musician named Cornell. Just a couple nights ago, something on TV reminded us of the Cornells who were tenants at the apartment complex I used to run. Feds raided their apartment because their son was a wanna-be terrorist named Christopher Cornell. He was arrested at a local gun store when he went to buy toys to carry out his plans to shoot POTUS during the SOTU speech! He didn't realize his online friend he was discussing his plans with was actually a Fed and not another true believer.
5. Journalism has always had issues reconciling urgency with accuracy. As to bias, that is as old as the industry. What is a fairly recent phenomena is bias being almost all one direction. 150 years ago, you had papers that were explicitly and openly supportive of one party or another. Now, they feign objectivity but 99% lean left.
