Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

The US House of Representatives passed a bipartisan continuing resolution to fund the government to avoid a shutdown. The bill contains lots of pork to put it mildly. If all the military services (including the Coast Guard) along with Social Security checks continued to be sent out - I’d be fine with a government shutdown. It also gives a preview of the bipartisan enemies of DOGE who may have their pork threatened… The biggest fears about Joe Biden's final days in office is that he may start Word War III or that he's not done issuing pardons like issuing pardons to Liz Cheney and others involved with Jan 6th. What's different here is instead of commuting a sentence of someone proven guilty in a court of law - the pardon itself would be the proof that the person was guilty and needed protecting... With Disney having to pay $15 million in defamation charges to Donald Trump and the reported soon release of Bill Clinton's name on Epstein's client list - what are the chances the ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos suddenly resigns "to spend more time with his family?"... Justin Trudeau's government in Canada may fall because his biggest supporters in Parliament would rather lose him as PM than risk tariffs from Trump. So much winning... One name keeps coming to mind when thinking of Bill Belichick at North Carolina is George Allen who was also a football lifer. Coaching was just in his blood and he too returned to college after years in the pro game. He, of course, was nowhere near as successful as Belichick (who has been) but the thing is Allen had to coach because that's who he was and what he does. Same with Belichick... LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman says he may have to leave the US because he was a known backer of Kamala Harris and is afraid of prosecution from Trump once he's in office to get revenge. Hoffman has also been publicly connected to Jeffrey Epstein and guessing his wanting to leave the country may have more to do with the client list being released and that being confirmed. Also funny that Kamala Harris has never said she was leaving the country... A year later you don't seem to hear much about Florida State suing to get out of the ACC... Question has to be asked but will a Joe Biden Presidential library ever even be built?... The thing that bothers me about the George Allen comparison to Belichick is Allen died aged 72 which is the same age as Belichick today. This may explain the $1 million buy-out after just a year. The administration at UNC may be afraid of Bill killing himself with work... Can’t help but notice that Substack has started adding “give subscription as a gift” banners to many posts. That’s a nice touch. Why not give the gift of Hypnotized Fish this Christmas?…
