Tuesday Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Not for nothing but when Russia annexed Crimea under the Obama Administration nobody advocated going to war with Russia over the action. Yet even after the annexation many still advocated adding Ukraine to NATO which would have given Ukraine Article 5 protection if attacked. Even though WE HAD JUST PROVEN that such a guaranty wouldn't have been worth the paper it was written on. The US's and the European Union's hands are not 100% clean from the causes of the current situation. We're delusional to believe otherwise... The Democrats slogan going forward should be "The Democratic Party: Embrace the Suck." Have the bumper stickers been printed up yet?... As the movie The Godfather turns 50-years old this year I can't help but think of how times have changed. One of my favorite lines from the movie was "May your first child be a masculine child" spoken at the wedding of Michael and Kay by Luca Brasi. I used to write that line on any sign-in book or gift card for a wedding I attended because I found it humorous. Now you can't do that any longer because some may find it offensive... If Joe Biden ever does take real questions from real reporters I'd love it if someone simply asked him, "If the moon was made of ribs - would you eat it?”... It also has to be said that given our lack of reaction to the takeover of Crimea under the Obama Administration that Vladimir Putin may have thought he had a green light to invade Ukraine during the Biden Administration. Putin's big miscalculation may have been in underestimating the quick reaction and overwhelming disapproval from the European nations who are not looking toward America for leadership anymore (especially after the debacle in Afghanistan)... Nullius in verba (take nobody's word for it) is the motto of the Royal Society which was once the gold standard for science. Today it seems some in "science" would have you only believe the words of "experts" blindly like sheep... When Harvey Weinstein was finally arrested it was reported that everyone in Hollywood knew what sort of monster he was. When Jeffrey Epstein was arrested it was said that him being a pedophile was an open secret that was never reported. What are they going to say when Joe Biden's dementia is finally too obvious for any to deny? How many tales are going to come out of the Washington woodwork from "reporters" who should have made those stories public long ago?... Years ago I saw a bumper sticker that said "Cristo Me Salvo" (Christ Saved Me) but problem was my brain translated it as "Christ I'm Hungry." So now whenever I'm particularly hungry I'll  say that and chuckle to myself... In Ukraine the Biden Administration is definitely following the Obama strategy of "Leading from behind."
