One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong: Goldman Sachs CEO got a 24% pay boost to $31 million in 2023 while the company saw profits decrease by 24%... In 2014 the Daytona 500 had a six hour weather delay because of rain. I was there and it was miserable. My girlfriend and I left the grounds because we were so soaked. We went back to our hotel and showered and watched the rest of the race from a bar even though we could have returned. We were finally dry and warm and weren’t about to risk that... Beef - is there anything it can't do?... Milton Friedman famously said that in a free market no transaction takes place unless both the buyer and seller will benefit by it. This obviously doesn't apply to government regulations or taxes... This year’s Daytona 500 was moved to yesterday again because of rain. They had Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson as the Grand Marshall. I kept finding it amusing that a race that drug tests the drivers had the Rock as Grand Marshall. Kept waiting for an announcement that said that the Rock was banned for a year from any NASCAR event for testing positive for PED’s… Perfect comparison!… Books are different from movies in that an author may wait years to write a sequel to a good book and people will be happy to see it but in movies if they wait too long the actors age or die and it's not the same movie. Of course, unless that author is George RR Martin then that window has long past... Werner von Braun famously said that, "Science is like a knife. If you give it to a surgeon or a murderer, each will use it differently." The former Nazi von Braun was one of the rare ones to used it both ways... Remember the sacrifice that was paid… This year’s Daytona 500 was won by William Byron in the 24 car for Hendrick Motorsports…
