Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Amused that Elon Musk changes the name of "Twitter" to "X" and people lose their minds meanwhile Washington's new owners want to change the team name from the Commanders and people are ecstatic... Who knew? Mel Blanc was the voice of Barney Rubble on The Flintstones... Have you seen those videos where a toddler gets their first eyeglasses or the one where toddlers get their first hearing aid and truly recognize their mom for the first time ever? The cynic in me sees those videos and realizes that from that point on - nobody is going to want to have sex with that kid ever again until they're maybe in their mid 20's. Wonder if the toddler realized that - if they would still want that new sense?... The Kansas City Chiefs have said that they may possibly renovate Arrowhead Stadium and remain where they are for another 25-years. Here's hoping that comes true! I've attended games at Kaufman Stadium (do they still call it that?) and think its one of the best venues I've been to. Hoping the Royals choose to remain put too. The Royals and Chiefs currently share a huge parking lot and not getting to a game at Arrowhead remains a disappointment for me... Would be hilarious if NPR changed their name to Twitter... This shouldn't bother me but it does - during their education and careers both Ida Bae Wells and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had teachers and employers that gave them grades and praise they never deserved. And now we have to suffer the consequences... Won't lie - when I see that a non-alcohol beer shop is opening my first thought is the over/under on when it closes down... I will always be amused at the Democrats trying to censor RFK Jr. at a hearing on censorship. Talk about not being self-aware... Thinking about coming out with a book on how to make pancakes. I'd call it Tips for a Batter Life... The Land of Dead Narratives would be a good name for a blog or Substack account... Is it me or are pre-season power rankings almost always way off. Nobody suffers any repercussions from this but I think an opportunity may exist on betting the overs on the teams they chose as having the toughest schedules. Doesn't even matter the sport... Historical question - could the ending of the Aeneid, written after the death of Virgil, have been the final season of Game of Thrones of its day? Would love an answer from a Classics professor... Now that Elon Musk has done X - one has to wonder if next up is Y and Z? Have to admit the name X does remind me of porn. Be back in 5 minutes!...
