Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Robert Frost said, "Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence." I say wisdom is not listening to or putting yourself in a situation where you have to listen to things that would make you lose your temper - which is why I did not watch or listen to Joe Biden's SOTU address. Wisdom I has it... Surprised we haven't been inundated by the playing of the Sting song Russians (I Hope the Russians Love Their Children Too) on the radio. For the record - Vladimir Putin has two daughters... The free world is united in support of Ukraine. One thing that could divide the free world is if Chris Evans (Captain America) was named as the new James Bond. Just starting that rumor now... When the Ukraine invasion falls apart on Vladimir Putin his excuse will probably be that he was only doing it "for the greater good." All the worst things it seems are done "for the greater good"... You learn something new every day - I thought for sure that Foxconn was a Chinese company but it is actually a Taiwanese company. That makes me feel mildly better about my iPhone... This may seem farfetched but a possible best-case scenario to the War in Ukraine would be Putin out of power and Russia lobbying to join the EU. Hey could happen... Good news - the 13 Ukrainian "Go Fuck Yourself" Snake Island Marines are reportedly alive and well. Although they are also reportedly now Russian POW's... Old enough to remember the cries of "No blood for oil!" coming from those who opposed George W. Bush and the invasion of Iraq. Those very same people today are silent as Russia invades Ukraine and the US buys 500,000 barrels of Russian oil a day. Why aren't they calling for sanctions on Russian oil or is Ukrainian blood different or a fair price to pay?... Speaking of iPhones - possibly the only thing that could turn the world away from supporting Ukraine is if Apple thought it would be a good gesture to download the Ukrainian National Anthem on everyone’s iPhones. U2 was the most popular band in the world until Apple did that to them… MLB and the Players Association cannot come to an agreement and now the season will lose games. And as people recognize how low in priority professional baseball is to their lives - baseball will be losing thousands of fans by the day. Personally when I have time I'm going to unfollow most of the baseball writers in my Twitter feed. Just don't care anymore...
