Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
There was a hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas yesterday that was a direct result of Trump warning Hamas that they better get the hostages released before his inauguration or there would be “hell to pay.” It had nothing to do with Joe Biden although that won’t stop him from trying to take credit… The FDA has banned red dye #3 food coloring. This is a direct result of RFK Jr. raising the awareness of how bad the additives we have in our food - including red dye #3. Hopefully this is just the beginning... The deal was basically Israel to release 1,300 terrorists, agree to stop fighting Hamas, and to leave most of Gaza. In exchange Israel got the release of 33 hostages (out of 98) of which 23 were alive and 10 dead. It was a bad deal but Israel would do anything to get however many of its people back as possible… If TikTok does shutter its doors to US customers on January 19th could X offer a similar video feature and try to capture some of this market? Think some company is going to try... Should have noted the anniversary of Dolores O’Riordan. Such a great voice. Such a loss… Think the Democratic Party really missed the boat two years ago when it was rumored that Oprah Winfrey was going to replace Kamala Harris as VP. Supposedly this also means Oprah would have also been the DNC candidate in 2024. That would have been a very different party from what they rolled out instead... On the flip side the FDA under the Biden Administration really didn’t ban red dye #3 they said manufacturers of food stuffs using it must reformulate to have a replacement by 2027 at its earliest. This is a serious slap on the wrist and not much else. Sure this chemical is banned by nations all over the world for causing cancer but take your time in replacing it because Americans need their red Fruit Loops… Yesterday was another anniversary of note… Will a shuttered TikTok be like original Coke with cocaine in it? People still wanting it even though they know the Chinese algorithm is both addiction and bad for you?… All RFK Jr. really wanted was to debate people on the need to revamp our harmful health related bureaucracies and now a Senate confirmation hearing promises to do just that. Democrats wouldn’t be better confirming this man instead of trying “gotcha” type questions that are sure to humiliate the person asking…
