Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

All my life Canadians have made commenting on American politics one of their favorite national pastimes but now many in America's hat are upset with us for "meddling" in their "affairs" by simply paying attention to what's actually going on there. I find that amusing... Steven Spielberg is producing a fifth Indiana Jones movie, slated for release in mind-2023. Haven't we suffered enough?... 1960's protesters - I have a Dream. 2020's protesters - I have a Truck... Byron Allen, owner of the Allen Media Group, is seeking to buy the Denver Broncos to become the first black majority owner in the NFL. Something like this would be a big step forward in ending racism at the top levels of the NFL but the sale of the Broncos will go to the highest bidder and there's not much the NFL can do about that. The NFL could show a firm commitment to ending racism by firing Roger Goodell and hiring a black Commissioner. Think a majority of the owners could easily get behind that option... Thought experiment - if you were forced to make either Neil Young or Joe Rogan your primary care physician - which of those two would you choose to give you your health advice? Think the choice would be quite clear... In the last major battle of the Civil War the Conferates set their own Capital of Richmond on fire. One wonders if today's Democrat Party is operating on a similar mindset and will burn down the Democratic Party before handing it over to those they view as enemies to their woke agendas... If "Social Media" was renamed "Surveillance Capitalism" for proof in advertising reasons - how many people would still use platforms such as FaceBook, Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter?... Wonder what pro sports and events like the Olympics will be like once we enter the age of DNA sequencing and CRISPR? Won't just be human sports either that are changed forever. Can you imagine Clydesdale-sized horses that can fly like the wind and what that would do to horseracing?... In the comics Batman is a lapsed Catholic (sometimes Episcopalian) while Daredevil (Matt Murdock) is a strict Catholic. It would be amusing to have a DC / MCU crossover but just of Bruce Wayne and Matt Murdoc meeting at mass... Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask has retired. This is probably only important to Bruins or NHL fans but I really liked Tuukka. He finishes his 15-year career with 308 career wins (which is the most in history for Boston - an Original Six team) and is 4th in NHL history in save percentage (.9210). The other three goalies ahead of him are all Hall of Famers including legends Dominic Hasek and Ken Dryden. His career goals against average of 2.28 is 11th in NHL history (8 of the players ahead of him are also in the Hall) and his payoff goals against was an even better 2.22. He will be missed.
