Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
The word Slack in British slang means lazy or stupid. Enjoy thinking about that your next day at work. It's like in the 1980's when some company thought AYDES would be a good name for a diet pill or like Chevy not realizing that Nova meant "no go" in Spanish... Helen Thomas famously said, "You're only as good as your last story" or in Thomas' case her outspoken last remarks when she said, "Jews should get the hell out of Palestine" and "go home" to Germany or Poland. My favorite Helen Thomas quote remains, "Who's that trip, tropping over my bridge?"... Which taxes harm growth the most?... Think an excellent case can be made for following the writing rules of people who may have learned the hard way. Hemingway famously cut the word "very" out of everything he wrote while Peter Jennings didn't allow sentences to be started by "but" or for people to use the word "like." Agree 100% with those rules... On this day in 1977 - Elvis Presley passed away. All jokes aside, many people were devastated by this and it still effects them... Still unsure if Hunter Biden's lead criminal attorney looking to be let out of the laptop case because he may be called as a witness in another matter is an example of a rat trying to leave a sinking ship, a smart move by the lawyer, or an admission of how corrupt Biden is. Perhaps a combination?... Was unaware Stanford was this good at football... Speaking of Jennings - he was once voted to People's Best Dressed list even though he bought everything out of catalogs. Makes me feel better for shopping mostly via LL Bean catalogs (although to be fair sometimes I also go to Under Armour outlets)... Have to wonder if dogs put their heads out the car window because they think the car smells so bad no matter the make and model. Now that I've had this thought I can't unthink it when I see a dog with his head out a car window... Reminder that former California Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez is still in power in the state in a leadership position with the California Labor Federation and Tesla's HQ is still relocated to Texas. Another reason why I'm avoiding California if at all possible... Any time an MLB pitcher gets to 250 wins or more you'll see articles about how 300 wins is now withing reach and ow this could be the last pitcher to reach 300 wins. Remember when Tom Glavine went through this?...
