Take Action
The habit of taking action is one of the most important habits one can develop in life.
Much of what passes as knowledge is actually ancient wisdom that has been repackaged or put into modern terms or language. I am simply quoting the words I have learned even though they may have come from an earlier source. The most important thing to remember is to take action. You can think about something all day but it doesn’t count until you actually do it. The sooner you get to something - the sooner you get through it!
“New habits aren’t that hard once you start them.” - Shane Parrish. Reminder that to change you need to change your habits and to change your habits you first need to take action.
“Don’t find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.” - Henry Ford. Doesn’t matter what you say. It only matters what you do.
“Twenty years from now you’ll be more disappointed in the things you did not do than in the ones you did.” - Mark Twain
“I don’t know anyone who got to the top without hard work. That is the recipe. It will not always get you to the top, but it should get you pretty near.” - Margaret Thatcher. They say that hard work alone will get you to the top 90% of any field. There’s no excuse not to work hard no matter what you do for a living.
“A goal without real consequences is wishful thinking. Good follow-through doesn’t depend on the right intentions. It depends on the right incentives.” - Tim Ferriss. Not enough to just take action, you have to do the right thing for the right reasons.
“‘Show up and do stuff and then do more stuff that works’ is underrated advice.” - Sam Altman. Take action and what works “rinse and repeat.”
“Anything that is theoretically possible will be achieved in practice, no matter what the difficulties are, if it is desired great enough.” - Arthur C. Clarke. It’s not enough to think about an idea. You must take steps to make it a reality because eventually someone will have a similar thought.
“Knowing what’s right doesn’t mean much unless you do what’s right.” - Teddy Roosevelt. Take the right path and take action.
“It doesn’t count unless you do it.” - Doug Stanhope
“He who does not act does not exist.” - Leibniz. Put another way - we’re all going to die but it’s your actions that live on.
