Take Action
The habit of taking action is one of the most important habits one can develop in life.
Much of what passes as advice is actually ancient wisdom that has been repackaged or put into modern terms or language. I am simply quoting the words I have learned even though they may have come from an earlier source. The most important thing to remember is to take action. You can think about something all day but it doesn’t count until you actually do it. The sooner you get to something - the sooner you get through it!
“Sweat more during peace, bleed less during war.” - Sun Tzu. Self explanatory!
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” - JRR Tolkien. Life is short. Don’t waste it.
“Business is tough and I hate it. But whatever you set out to do, you have to do as well as you know how.” - Raymond Chandler. Every person of accomplishment will tell you trying to accomplish a goal sometimes can suck - but those are the times you need to double down and still give your best efforts.
“Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choices, not chance, determine your destiny.” - Socrates. Take action!
“You're only as good as you perform on your worst day. When everything is going well, it's easy to be successful.” - Shane Parrish. There will be times when you don’t feel like taking action even when you know that’s the right choice. Those are the times that determine your very make-up.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” - Abraham Lincoln. You cannot improve the future of your life, family, or the community without taking action first.
“The best way, perhaps the only way, to change others is to become an example.” - Naval Ravikant. Don’t tell others what they should do. Do that yourself and be an example and improve your own circumstances with the act.
“Work harder on yourself than on your job. If you work hard at your job, you can make a living. If you work hard on yourself, you can make a fortune.” - Jon Rahm. It takes hard work to become the person you wish to be.
“I was in darkness, but I took three steps and found myself in paradise. The first step was a good thought, the second, a good word; and the third a good deed.” - Friedrich Nietzsche. Each step is an action. Take the steps!
“Work is not a curse, it is… the only path to manhood.” - Calvin Coolidge. One of the most significant things you learn in life is that you become what you do and the only true way to becoming an adult is to take responsibility for your actions and be active every day.
