Imagine if the US government started arresting young male citizens at the Canadian border during the Vietnam war and shooting those who resisted. It would make Kent State look like a picnic. Yet that is what is happening in Ukraine with little or no coverage by the corporate media... Has anyone seen any comments on the implosion of the Pac 12 from Tiger Woods? Goes to show how little students and alumni of Stanford care about college football... The bad drives out the good could be the motto of modern politics... Reportedly Russia has now become the largest economy in Europe. Remind me again how those sanctions are working out?... Is what happened to the Pac 12 simply a reflection of how little the rest of the nation feels about the power of California these days? Schools are fleeing the Pac 12 the way companies are fleeing California. Is Gavin Newsome a mirror of George Kliakoff? Is anyone willingly going to hire either one of them moving forward (except maybe cronies)? Don't think so. Think this analogy actually works... Saw the saying, "The news is not trying to inform you - they are trying to manipulate you." And now I can't get it out of my head... Has anyone gotten comments from Pitt, Louisville, BC, Syracuse or Miami about the recent conference realignment? Would be curious to see those comments... Prior to the New Deal, the average mortgage in the US was 10-years or less. After the government created the FHA the average mortgage length exploded to 30-years. Not a coincidence... Worldwide shipping container rates are below pre-pandemic levels and back to the rates of about 2000. Does that mean the the world economy is slowing down or is it a reflection of companies decoupling from China? Maybe both... So basically Jack Smith and the Democrats got the headlines and news stories they wanted but now admit they never submitted all the relevant security footage to the defense team in clear violation of both procedure and their oaths. Don't be surprised if charges are quietly dropped but no problem - they got the headlines and stories they were after, To borrow a phrase - tar and feathers is too good in this case... One has to have good concentration to finish a Paul Graham essay and even better concentration to finish a good book. This isn't a humble brag but simply an explanation why some who are not motivated to move beyond high school never read another book and why many who are happy to just finish college read so few books after graduation...
