Happy Cinco de Mayo!… The Boston Bruins won their first round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs last night 2-1. Had to look up the result as I had too good of a time yesterday (yard work, Kentucky Derby, live band, dancing) and fell asleep before Boston’s win in overtime… MIT has banned DEI statements for staff promotions and advancement. The turning of the tide… Speaking of the Kentucky Derby - congrats to anyone who picked Mystic Dan or had him in their pools. Yesterday was a good day to just bet the 3 horse in every race at Churchill Downs. Sometimes just picking a number is the best policy… Not sure what to make about the over/under for Deion Sander's Colorado team this year. With all the controversy about transfers many in the public are rooting against the Buffalos but Bruce Feldman thinks they may win 8 games this season. Probably just staying away. Sanders didn't like contact as a player as a player and seems to dislike criticism just as much as a coach. Hard guy to root for... Waiting for the news of protesters blocking a highway to protest oil production getting runover by an illegal immigrant driving an uninsured vehicle in a sanctuary city. Is that asking too much?... Who knew? The reason police and investigators interview witnesses to an event separately is to keep unbiased witnesses from influencing each other. Suspects are interviewed separately so they cannot collude on their stories and to perhaps get one to "flip" and confess in exchange for a lighter sentence... If Gavin Newsome is made the Democratic nominee for President - a simple ad could show how much each voter in various states would have to pay in additional money if they were taxed at the same rate as California which is taxed at the highest rate in the country and still has a yearly budget deficit... Remember when people were complaining about the possibility of living in John Ashcroft's America and that was fodder for Late Night comedians. Now nobody is joking about that and just missing what used to be and our current state of things.... Language tidbit - the root of the word "heuristic" is the same for the word "eureka"...
