Steve Ballmer is Evil
Reportedly Kawhi Leonard had a $28 million No-Show Job to go along with his Clippers salary. Steve Ballmer is evil.
Pablo Torre reports that Kawhi Leonard has a $28 million endorsement deal for a "no show" job with a fraudulent tree-planting company supposedly funded by Los Angeles Clippers owner and former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Microsoft is relevant in this situation because that's where Ballmer made all his money and he is by far the richest owner in the NBA.
For the record I do not blame Kawhi Leonard for taking the $28 million. On top of being one of the best paid players in the NBA - Los Angeles said we'll give you another $28 million and you just have to sign wit the Clippers. No other work involved. Leonard said, "Where do I sign?"
The penalties for circumventing the salary cap like this is supposed to be:
Fine of up to $4.5 million for a first offense (this would be chicken feed to Ballmer)
Loss of one first round draft pick
Possibility of voiding the contract in question
This whole situation and revelation leaves me with lots of questions:
Ballmer was viewed by many as a jolly owner but will this situation make people see him as a fat cheat instead?
Will the $28 million for the "no-show" job be added to the salary cap for the Clippers?
Is there such a thing as third apron because that's what might be needed here?
Can Clippers season ticket holders sue the team for fraud and get their money back?
This of course assumes that these assertions are true. Are we to believe that someone with a background as a Microsoft CEO could do something so shady?
Think Pablo Torre gets all the credit in the world for this reporting. This is a situation worth paying attention to.

Is Ballmer the only one or just the first one to get caught using creative accounting? I have my doubts that he is the only one.
