Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

So the men accused of trying of kidnapping Michigan Governor Whitmer were acquitted of all charges. When do the FBI people who engineered to set the men up for this get charged? Not going to hold my breath... Reminder that many of those of Mexican descent hate illegal aliens and view them as cheap labor and cheats. Caesar Chavez viewed them as scabs and strike breakers. That why many are flocking to the Republican Party - that and because the Democrats insisting on calling them Latinx... When I hear the phrase, "Pick your poison" my brain always thinks, "Thanks - I'll have a cold beer." Every time... Interesting stat: Justin Jefferson at just 24-years old now has more career receiving yards than anyone in the Chicago Bears over 100-year history... Heh Heh... Why hasn't Taylor Swift commented on the fake space aliens of Mexico? What is she trying to hide?... Who knew? Both the face mask penalty and the clothesline rule were put in place because of the violent way Dick "Night Train" Lane used to tackle. Wonder if any defensive player has ever effected the rules as much as Lane... Judge rules that DACA is unconstitutional; and that Presidents can't set immigration policy by Executives Order. Reminder that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Shumer held the power to legalize DACA for years but never acted on it... Finishing up Mike Lombardi's great new book Football Done Right but one small comment, Lombardi mentions how a player's "second" team he plays for can harm his Hall of Fame chances and he's right - just think of Freddy Lynn or Bruce Hurst leaving the Red Sox and what that did for their chances. However, I should comment there's also a factor about how former players are viewed when they go to the sidelines as head coach. People in New England don't think of Raymond Berry as a great Colts receiver. We think of him as a lousy head coach who screwed over Doug Flutie. Same with how people in New Orleans may think of Mike Ditka... Another interesting stat: Tom Brady never played a single pre-snap game in his career when his team had been eliminated from playoff contention... Also did not know that Dick LeBeau was a Hall of Fame teammate of Night Train Lane. I always thought of him as a Defensive Coordinator instead... Speaking of books, with fall in the air think its time to pick up Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes... When thinking of failed politician Stacey Abrams my brain keeps picturing Fulton County District Attorney Fanni Willis saying, "Hold my beer"... Honest question: if a player does not take a scholarship from a university and pays for the education (say through NIL money) - would that remove the player from the auspices of the NCAA? That player could then transfer at will...
