Silly me - I would have bet that the CDC was going to try to make Covid seem more scary and threatening before the mid-terms not less dangerous and basically nothing to worry about... Charlie Munger likes to say that one of his daily goals is to go to bed 1% smarter than when he woke up. That's a great goal that I too try to follow but sometimes I'd settle for going to bed with one fewer Internet tab open on my browser than when I got up in the morning. Sadly that is rarely the case... Today's word for the day is "satori" - a term Zen masters use to describe a flash of insight, a moment of total presence. We could all use more satori in our lives... When Harvey Weinstein was finally arrested they said everyone in Hollywood knew. When Jeffrey Epstein was arrested it was said him being a pedophile was an open secret that was never reported on. What are they going to say when Joe Biden's dementia is finally too obvious for any to deny? How many tales are going to come out from Washington reporters of stories that should have been made public long ago... This is great - Antonio Brown is such a putz... One of my goals in life is to out-live Charles Bukowski who died aged 75. I'm a simple man with simple goals... My mind works differently than most but if I were in Congress I'd introduce a Bill to change the name of Washington, DC to "The Mesopotamia of Lies." I think the people of my District would appreciate that bit of humor... The Patriots are getting flack in some corners for the seemingly slow start to their camp. Little tackling, no goal line practice situations (the biggest smash mouth aspect of football), few starters in action during first pre-season game but I have to wonder if this is Belichick making an adjustment to a 17-game season and the wear and tear that extra game physically means to the players. No secret that the most successful teams at the end of the season are normally the most healthy teams as well. Think it's just smart coaching and management... Growing up in New England Indian Summer to me meant great football weather, colorful foliage, and maybe the last chance to sneak away to the beach. I just learned the term was coined in colonial days because it was the season when Indians were most likely to be on the warpath. Living on the colonial frontiers Indian Summer was probably a time of fear and trepidation - for us football and apple picking... If I were Elon Musk I'd post a $10 million bounty reward for any Twitter engineer that provide proof that Twitter knowingly under-reports the number of bots on the platform. Perhaps Elon already has that evidence?... Nobody likes when the refs or umpires try to be become part of the game but part of me misses the days when a referee can make a call like "He was giving him the business"...
