News out of Russia can be confusing. First we're told that both the Ruble and Russian GDP are stronger today than before the war and sanctions from the West kicked in. Then the news tells us that Russian conscriptions are being sent to Ukraine with just a uniform and some body armor. No other supplies, not even a sleeping bag. These reports seem at odds to me... Remember when the Democrats tried to make the term "Joementum" a thing? Yeah that was short lived... Still hilarious to me... Growing up in New England it seems this time of year brings up different reactions at different stages of life. When I was young I was excited during this time because of football and October baseball. Then I became more attuned to the beauty of the foliage and being out in nature during any pleasant day during this time of year. To a degree I still appreciate those things but now I'm also appreciative of this time of year because I neither have to run the air conditioning or turn on the heat (yet)... One explanation for the Potemkin reserve call-ups by Russia is that it's just a feint by Putin calling up the reserves is to show Germany and the rest of Europe how serious he is about the war in order to get them to drop sanctions and open the energy spigot from Russia before Winter sets in... One phrase that seems to be dying out of the language is the term "current events." Everything we're blasted with on social media is a "current event" so no need to advertise the fact anymore. The term has basically be replaced by the term "trending"... If Ime Uduka worked for the Red Sox instead of the the Celtics, John Henry would already have Bob Hohler working a big hit piece for the Boston Globe... Ginger Princess would be a good name for a band (or a strip club run by a redhead)... Quote to ponder today: when asked what deceased person he missed most George Bernard Shaw responded, "The man I miss most is the man I could have been"... Is it true that Dolly Parton has never been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom? How is that possible? I'd be hard pressed to think of an American more deserving... Monday morning in New England and both the Red Sox and Patriots are in last place. Whatever you do - avoid sports talk radio like the plague...
