Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
David Halberstam wrote his masterpiece The Best and the Brightest about how the US got into Vietnam with the title of the book meant ironically. When the history of the Biden Administration and Afghanistan is written the title may well be Are You F*cking Kidding Me? And the title will be meant literally... Why hasn't Taylor Swift commented on the FBI's raid on Mar-a-Lago? What's she trying to hide?... Seems a bit aggressive but Arizona which went 1-11 last season has USC scheduled as their homecoming opponent on October 29th. Wonder if Lincoln Riley and the Trojans will use this disrespect as incentive to run up the score?... Some ancient Indian wisdom says you should never eat your next meal until you feel hunger pangs. The feeling of hunger is your body's signal to you that the previous meal has been digested and that your body is ready for you to eat again. Simple wisdom but so very wise... Two college football teams that always bite me in the ass whenever I bet on or against them are Nebraska and Syracuse. I had to re-learn that lesson early this year… Potatoes were forbidden in England until the early 18th century for the simple reason that potatoes aren't mentioned in the Bible. You know what else isn't mentioned in the Bible? England!... My idea of multi-tasking is reading in the morning while drinking coffee or reading at night while drinking beer. For everything else - focus on the task at hand... Still say that BLT's should also be counted among the breakfast sandwiches... Always thought you could make a great upper level college history class of the late 20th century using just David Halberstam books. From the 50's, to Korea, to Vietnam, to the decline of the American auto industry. Would be a lot of reading but the students would get fantastic perspective from one of the greats. Lots of details which would pretty much give the overall picture of America from 1945 to 1980... Lord grant me the wisdom to always understand and respect personal boundaries better than a middle-aged Grateful Dead fan on a dance floor... If I were the next President one of the first things I'd do is make sure that any medical professional who publicly disagreed with the Great Barrington Declaration were purged from any public policy positions. And the word "purged" was used purposefully. They want to use socialist tactics to get their way - let's see how they like it when those tactics used on them.. Boston sports reporters are all Chicken Little's when it comes to the Patriots. This is preseason - practice.
