Learn something new every day: Khe Sanh in Vietnam had about 5 squire miles which was bombed mercilessly by the US Air Force while Dien Bien Phu is a 75 square mile valley. No wonder the French were defeated by Vietnamese ground forces... I hinted at no outcome surprising me on Sunday and was kind of referring to the chances of the Pats beating the Bills. Neither bet on or expected it but was hoping for it... Admit I didn’t see that punchline coming… It has been written that the Black Death of 1348-50 was the most lethal disaster in human history. Covid 19 in comparison killed very few. Much fewer if you're able to back out those who died from vaccine side-effects... In English history around 775 AD about 240 coins could be minted from a pound of silver which were then called sterlings (or silver pennies). It was later established that there'd be 12 pennies to the shilling and 20 shillings to the pound (of silver). Make sense? Wacky English... Would be funnier if I didn’t think she really believed this… Reminder that Paul Krugman understands the economy so well that he was working for Enron but all that time was unaware they were a scam organization. He's that sort of "expert"... All weekend the experts were calling for the Ohio State / Penn State game to be a shootout going well over the total and for the Pats / Bills game to go under because of the high winds. Both games went exactly opposite as predicted. Another example of why you should never listen to experts. The Krugman experts... More truth!… Occurs to me that perhaps history is the first example of people studying large data sets. What is a year if not a data set of 365 days? And what is an era but a string of years to be analyzed?... Seems strange to say but Michigan now has an advantage at QB. JJ McCarthy is clearly better than anything the Buckeyes have to offer... Just starting A Distant Mirror but seems Barbara Tuchman really isn't a fan of Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire...
