Monday Flotsam and Jetsam
Some miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
After yesterday's game in Las Vegas - think there's many in New England who will be taking back up skiing after spending the last 20-years watching the Patriots during the early winter... Don't forget that while we're distracted by all the world's events Jack Smith is still going after former President Trump for having "classified" documents at Mar-a-Lago. Meanwhile former VP Joe Biden was found to be illegally storing documents in Delaware or elsewhere and is yet not facing charges. Trump had the ability to declassify whatever he liked as a President while as VP - with some documents going as far back as when he was just a Senator - Biden did not. Now we have to see if Jim Jordan taking over as Speaker of the House changes any of this... Still amazed at how much Sam Harris damaged his reputation and continues to damage his reputation by his unhinged hatred of Trump. He’s publicly stated any means were OK to defeat the Donald and continues to do so. He’s the podcast equivalent of Leon Panetta… We all know fighters like these guys... Also think the Boston Bruins will be the big beneficiary of interest in the Patriots falling off a cliff. Every game a sell out and great ratings on TV for the B’s games... The University of Penn enjoyed a great windfall from Joe Biden's Penn Center scheme bringing in millions of Chinese donations but Penn's tacit support of Palestine in the wake of the attacks by Hamas will lose the university a factor of millions more. Good on Jon Huntsman for leading the charge on this front... The advice to act positive or upbeat at all times is solid and proven scientifically. But it does bring to mind the Catholic Church advice to act as if you believe and belief will be granted to you. Have always been skeptical of this advice… Everyone needs a goal. Think I just found mine... Washington beating Oregon on Saturday was a great game and a great win. It even boosted Michael Penix Jr. into the lead for the Heisman Trophy but don't forget how fickle college football is. Things change from week to week... Also think the advice to work hard when nothing else seems to work is solid. Or to put in Rayland Givens terms, the quicker you get to it the sooner you get through it…
