There's some groundswell for Colts RB Jonathan Taylor for MVP as Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady may split the QB vote. Some people like the idea of Brady winning at his advanced age. Rodgers may be the most deserving but his vaccination stance has upset many (and sports writers in general are petty people)... How very quickly we swung from "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" to "You can't call the President Brandon"... During the first Crusade coming away with a Turkish scimitar as a prize was as big a deal as US soldiers getting a German Luger during WWII. Soldiers have always been the same... Boston has a mask mandate which would have made watching the Fenway Bowl on December 29th interesting just to see if anyone in the stands actually obeyed the mandate. Virginia and SMU were supposed to play and I didn't envision football fans from either team wearing masks. The game has been cancelled due to COVID... "Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak." - Sun Tzu. Remind me to never play poker against Sun Tzu... Trivia that may only interest me: The song You're a Mean one, Mr. Grinch was sung by Thurl Ravenscroft who was also the voice of Tony the Tiger for Frosted Flakes... At this point if they replaced Hail to the Chief with Carmina Burana - do you think Joe Biden would even notice?... Tom Brady winning the NFL MVP's in three different decades could be a record that would never be matched - which is why so many sports writers may want to vote for him. They vote for the story as much as the player... So even though the free CNN channel has their ratings in free fall - the suits at CNN think people would pay $6 for CNN+ - good luck with that... Just saying but constant commercials about vaccines, cell carriers, stupid insurance mascots, and cars as gifts will eventually turn even the most hardcore sports fans off live sports on TV... So big-budget West Side Story is a ticket office bomb - who could have predicted that? Pretty much everyone? Yeah - that's about right. How do people who greenlight movies like West Side Story or Space Jam II stay employed?... Have a sneaking suspicion that Ghislaine Maxwell will somehow be found "Not Guilty" and that the verdict will be announced the same day that Joe and Jill Biden announce they are getting a cat for the White House. Guess which one of those stories the media will follow ad nauseum... As always if this column has made you smile or think - don't be afraid to hit the like button.
