Happiness
How to be happy is one of the most asked questions in life.
Much of what passes as knowledge is actually ancient wisdom that has been repackaged or put into modern terms or language. I am simply quoting the words I have learned even though they may have come from an earlier source. The most important thing to remember is that happiness is a state of mind.
“Gratitude offers a partial inoculation against the vagaries of life, and is, generally speaking, positively correlated with happiness.” - Gad Saad. Gives new meaning to the saying be Saad and be happy.
“All I really want to do is go to the book store, drink coffee, and read.” - Jean Paul Sartre. Remember what may look like laziness to you or a person doing “nothing” may in fact be a person being happy. Think twice about disturbing that person.
“The happiness of most people are not ruined by great catastrophes or fatal errors, but by the repetition of slowly destructive little things.” - Ernest Dimnet. The saying goes don’t sweat the small things and that there are no small things but it really should be simply take all things - big or small as they come.
“What if this life is the paradise we were promised and we’re just squandering it.” - Naval Ravikant. Who would want to be unhappy in heaven?
“There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things that are beyond the power of our will.” - Epictetus. To be happy simply accept things as they happen.
“It is difficult to find happiness within, but it is impossible to find it anywhere else.” - Arthur Schopenhauer. Your happiness solely depends on you and you are incharge of your attitude.
“I urge you to please notice when you are happy, to exclaim, or murmur, or think at some point, ‘If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.” - Kurt Vonnegut
“A rational person can find peace by cultivating indifference to things outside their control.” - Naval Ravikant. There’s things you can control and things you can’t. Don’t worry yourself about things you can’t control.
“What can be added to the happiness of the man who is in health, who is out of debt, and has a clear conscience.” - Adam Smith. Spend less than you bring in and don’t lust over things out of your reach.
“Happiness comes from solving problems. The key word here is ‘solving.’ If you’re avoiding your problems or feel like you don’t have any problems, then you’re going to male yourself miserable.” - Mark Manson. Keep both your mind and body busy to avoid being miserable and be happy!
