Much of what passes as knowledge is actually ancient wisdom that has been repackaged or put into modern terms or language. I am simply quoting the words I have learned even though they may have come from an earlier source. The most important thing to remember is that happiness is a state of mind.
“True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence on the future.” - Seneca. In the words of a famous philosopher - don’t worry, be happy.
“You are going to die one day, and none of this is going to matter. So enjoy yourself. Do something positive. Project some love. Make someone laugh. Appreciate the moment. And do your work.” - Naval Ravikant. When you realize that soon you’ll be dead and forgotten, even if you're the most famous person in the world, there is no reason not to be happy.
“I have to believe that the only path to true happiness is one of minimum government intrusion into our lives and bank account.” - Gad Saad. Another way to put it is maximum freedom equals maximum happiness. Free yourself from shackles of any type.
“Happiness in intellectuals is the rarest thing I know.” - Ernest Hemingway. Don’t overthink. Be happy with what you have and where you are.
“The secret of happiness is this: Let your interests be as wide as possible.” - Bertrand Russell. Be curious about everything!
“Happiness is what’s there when you remove the sense that something is missing from your life.” - Naval Ravikant. Don’t worry about what you don’t have or aren’t. Be happy for who you are and what you have.
“The happiest man is satisfied with his present situation, no matter what it is.” - Seneca. Or as Dumbledore would put it - the happiest person could look at the mirror of desire and just see his reflection.
“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.” - Benjamin Disraeli. If you want to be happy you need to make it happen.
“The essence of philosophy is that a man should live that his happiness depends as little as possible on external things.” - Epictetus. Once again - don’t worry about outside events, What will be will be.
“A happy person isn’t someone who’s happy all the time. It’s someone who effortlessly interprets events in such a way that they don’t lose their inner peace.” - Naval Ravikant. Hope you’ve gotten the message that both happiness and worry are both choices by now. Choose to be happy!
That’s a short gist of what it takes to be happy. Hope you make that choice in life.
