Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Personally don't blame Tom Brady for his comments about the current NFL talent level. Anyone in a fantasy football league where 49ers QB Brock Purdy or Miami's QB Tua Tagovailoa, who both could be considered system guys, are top players, know this to be true... A little left over Thanksgiving humor... Funny but for many when the new college football rankings come out - the first thing they look for is what number is Notre Dame ranked? This may not be true for most fans of other teams but I know its true for Irish-Catholics... Shane Parrish’s advice for Thanksgiving should be followed every day if possible. Although he’s Canadian and maybe he did not mean this for Thanksgiving… Never occurred to me before but the phrase "punching down" itself is problematic language. It means that there’s also something called "punching up" which assumes the person is at a different level than the other’s level while at the same time we are also taught that every person has value and every voice should be listened to. So which is it? And you want to use that as a starting point for "count every vote" discussion?... Matt Ridley”s unpublished (their choice) letter to the Times of London. More people have probably seen it on X anyway… I kind of miss painter's caps. Zubaz pants not so much... I don't mind saying but the best Thanksgiving dinner I had was a leg of lamb. And I had that on more than one Thanksgiving... This time of year also always reminds me how great US grocery stores really are. I vividly remember reading the book MiG Pilot: The Final Escape of Lt. Bielenko where he was convinced a thing which had such an abundance of food could not actually exist and this was somehow a show. It does exist and we, for the most part, take it for granted... Hope you enjoy your Black Friday. I plan to do yardwork and watch football. That and try to follow Shane Parrish’s advice, though beer may be involved today…
