Part of me wonders if college sports eventually devolves into two super leagues - one made up of all the big state schools and another made up of all the big private schools. That could be interesting... Bothered by people misunderstanding the parable of the "rich man entering the kingdom of heaven." The Eye of the Needle was actually a gate into the City of Jerusalem which was so narrow for defensive purposes that caravan traders would have to take their possessions off their camels in order for their camels to enter. It was about earthly possessions not about the wealth of the individual. Very different meaning if read that way - which would have been understood by the people of the time... The Battle of Cannae - over 2,000 years ago but still relevant today. Reminder that the anniversary was this week and also that Rome later got their revenge and Hannibal was defeated… Just saying but I don't think I can name a single Lizzo song. Yes I'm proud of myself... Always amused when I see rankings of college football programs in the ACC and many don't include Boston College at all. Kind of don't blame them... Doug Stanhope's interview in Reason. One of my favorite comedians… Just saying but remember that famous thought experiment by Albert Einstein involving two people seeing the same event very differently even though they were observing at the same time? Charlie Pierce made that same observation over half a century earlier, “No two observers can make the same observation”… Should have mentioned that yesterday was Tom Brady’s 48th birthday. The man has more Super Bowl wins than most franchises and played in the same number of NFC Championship games as Aaron Rodgers even though he only played in that division for 3 seasons… Not sure how any self-respecting journalist outlet could deny the truth and impact of this letter from Joe Biden. Though I know they will try (or just avoid the subject altogether)… Growing up people in the USA were concerned that it was the Russians that would overtake us technological and economy wise (remember the Clint Eastwood movie Firefox), then it was the Japanese (remember Rising Sun), and now it is the Chinese. My prediction is that as people decouple from China and their true economy sputters it will become India and their huge market and growing economy. They are our next country to be concerned about even though they’ll probably turn out much like Japan…
