Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Part of the reason of the rise of so many "Life Coaches" today is the failure over the past couple of decades for our educational system to teach kids the basics of what they need to know in our society. Home economics was deemed politically incorrect so kids now don't know how to cook for themselves. Gym class was cut and now we wonder why everyone is obese. "New" math replaced traditional math and now kids don't understand that credit card companies are not giving them free money because they don't understand the concept of 22-25% interest rates. These kids are now adults and the life coaches are basically selling common sense because it has become an uncommon commodity... Maybe it's just me but I consider the TV remote to be a much bigger innovation than sliced bread... "We are the resistance!" "Good - wait you are resisting against things we want to force you to do? Call in the authorities! (The same ones we previously wanted to defund.)"... Still say that if I were President my first move would be to make Bill Belichick my Press Secretary. Those press conferences would be epic!... If you think the anti-vax mandates folks are protesting too much - remember there was a time the Karens of the day legally took away our right to drink beer out of concern "for the greater good"...  Both college football and the NFL have been very unpredictable this season and both the legal sports books and illegal bookies have been cleaning up. The Alabama juggernaut loses, Iowa is the highest ranked team in the Big Ten, while the Arizona Cardinals are the lone undefeated team in the NFL. Crazy!... If I were to make a carbonated alcoholic beverage I'd call it Helter Seltzer... So Facebook admits they've done studies that show their product have led to increased teen suicide yet they have done nothing to change that. Isn't that a massive class action lawsuit waiting to happen? Any parent who has lost a child to suicide should be getting in line for millions as long as their child had a Facebook or Instagram account. My guess is that Facebook would settle out of court too - not wanting the secrets of how aware they were about the dangers of their products and the parasitic ways they make money to become public knowledge during the discovery process... Am I the only one who would like to see miniature pony chariot races on TV?...  No slight to the City of Baltimore but very rarely, if ever would you see someone wearing an Orioles hat as a fashion statement. Yankees and Red Sox hats all the time - an Orioles hat? That's the fishing equivalent to catching a coelacanth... If you had the foresight to believe Iowa and Cincinnati would be ranked higher than Alabama at this point of the season - I hope you have been able to cash in on such prescience... One of the side-effects of the pandemic - the thought of participating in a "Sober October" never even crossed my mind this year... It was just two years ago when many Americans were saying they "Stand with Hong Kong." Just two years ago! We have such short attention spans in this country... Reasons to Drink would be a good name for a band (or a replacement name for CNN's Headline News)...
